Safety Management Systems

A Safety Management System (SMS)  is a systematic and proactive approach to managing safety risks related to your organisation.  Pembles are able to develop an SMS for your organisation and provide support with the ongoing management and reporting of the system.

SMS is centred around risk management activities including identifying safety issues, assessing the risks and then determining how to mitigate them. It is supported by a strong assurance function that monitors compliance and performance as well as managing changes. To be effective, the SMS needs the right policies, processes and procedures in place. In addition to this, it is critical to have the safety leadership in place to enable the SMS to perform.

Fire Risk Assessments

As well as safety management services, we are also able to provide fire risk assessments for your organisation in light of recent changes to the fire safety legislation.

The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005 became law in October 2006 and introduced significant change to workplace fire safety responsibilities.  As well as simplifying the legislative regime by bringing all fire safety legislation together into one Order (Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Fire Safety England Regulations 2022), it introduced the need for employers, building owners and occupiers to have a ‘responsible person’ to carry out, implement and maintain a fire safety risk assessment.

Pembles are able to carry out risk assessments for your organisation, providing you with the assurance that fire safety is being managed appropriately.

Compliance Monitoring

Pembles are able to provide ongoing compliance monitoring and management services, with significant experience within the aviation industry.

Compliance management is the ongoing process of monitoring and assessing systems to ensure they comply with industry and security standards, as well as corporate and regulatory policies and requirements.

CAA currently require that Aerodrome Operators establish an internal auditing process (compliance monitoring) through its aerodrome oversight programme and seek to verify compliance with the applicable requirements.

Pembles are able to provide compliance monitoring via annual audits or ongoing regular audits throughout the year.
